RSDO started this project on December 01, 2021, under the title of (multi-purpose cash assistance to 1400 most vulnerable IDP households in Herat) that were long for three months. This project was successfully finished; however, we faced lots of challenges especially during the survey for distinguishing the most vulnerable IDP HHs. We believe that our project team with the strong thematic motivation of aiding and helping families, whom were seriously in need of the packages performed their task in a grateful manner.

Sakinah Alsaudi lives in a family with two sisters and three brothers in Shal-Bafaan, 14th district of Herat province, she is a blind woman with an extraordinary memory that memorized the Holy Book, her family displaced from Badghis province six months ago due to drought, battles and poverty.

Insecure condition in the province destroyed their house and livestock; and put them in danger of famine therefore, they decided to escape from their hometown to Herat province with the hope better life in the new settled area. Sakinah said, “I am living in a family with two little sisters and three little brothers and my parents”. She continued, living here in Herat city with poverty and having nothing to eat as well as not having money/cash for our daily life-expenses put my family in psychological problems as well; we have come to Herat to change our life in a positive way but unfortunately, our life condition is even worse than our previous life in Badghis.

One day there was a hearsay between our neighbors about a humanitarian assistance project for those who has internally been displaced from their hometown because of any hardship time in their original area; after that, my father and I started searching for an opportunity which targeted IDP HHs. Soon we learned that firstly, we have to request and wait for approval of the organization; after two weeks from our registration, surveyors with the logo of HELP & RSDO came to our house and collected data for the eligibility of our family for this aid. Three weeks after the survey my father received a call from RSDO office, a kind man said that your family is eligible for our humanitarian assistance. He continued that you should come to the RSDO venue for attending to an orientation session about COVID-19 as well as a COVID-19 kit and receiving a ration card for the distribution of a food parcel and an amount of cash. This news made us very happy in such a situation that we didn’t have anything for our daily life expenses plus not having valuable things to sell.

Finally, on Saturday February 12, 2022, my father received the second call from RSDO that asked me to come to the venue on Sunday, February 13, 2022 and receive the package of food and cash amount; we are fabulously pleased and grateful to RSDO and HELP organizations which rescued my family from the danger of famine and hardship. Although this package is not a series of distribution process but can help us for at least three months.
