We are pleased to announce the official launch of a new initiative titled “Emergency response to returnees,” implemented by the Razi Social Development Organization (RSDO) with generous support from War Child UK. This important project aims to provide critical emergency support to vulnerable children and families returning from Iran, focusing on key entry points and districts in Herat province.

Project Objectives

The project is designed to address the immediate and acute needs of returnees by providing a rapid response package of shelter, essential items, and critical child protection services. The core objective is to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of vulnerable families and children during their transition back to Afghanistan.

Key Activities

  • Shelter Support: Provision of access to basic, safe, and dignified shelter for 872 vulnerable families (6,104 individuals) through the distribution of support packages and assistance in shelter rehabilitation.
  • Distribution of Non-Food Items (NFI): Distribution of NFI packages to 1,000 families (7,000 individuals), including blankets, tarpaulins/plastic sheets, and winter clothing to meet their seasonal needs.
  • Border Help Desk: Establishment of a help desk/information booth at the Islam Qala border to support and identify child protection cases, register incidents, and provide immediate services, including referrals for 1,500 children.
  • Psychosocial Support (PSS): Provision of psychosocial support (PSS) to 1,080 children through community-identified and equipped child protection home-based centers.
  • Psychological First Aid (PFA): Delivery of psychological first aid (PFA), including individual and group counseling sessions, at the Islam Qala border for 1,500 children.
  • Community-Based Protection: Formation of 6 inclusive and integrated community-based child protection committees (CBCPCs) and strengthening the capacity of their 90 members.

This project represents a vital intervention to protect vulnerable returnee families and children. Razi Social Development Organization (RSDO) is dedicated to delivering this emergency support swiftly and effectively, upholding the rights and well-being of all beneficiaries.
