Razi Social Development Organization (RSDO) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the “Self-Advocacy and Voice of People with Disabilities in the West Region of Afghanistan” project, generously funded by the Protect Defenders organization (FIDDH). This transformative six-month initiative aimed to empower people with disabilities (PWDs) in the provinces of Farah, Herat, and Ghor.
The project sought to enhance self-advocacy and social communication skills among 240 people with disabilities, empowering them in conflict management, self-advocacy, and articulating their needs and rights. Additionally, it aimed to raise awareness of disability rights among community leaders in specified cities and 40 villages, encouraging their proactive support for the participation of people with disabilities in community development processes.
Key activities included community dialogues, training workshops, integrating people with disabilities into advocacy groups, and impactful awareness campaigns through social media, radio broadcasting, and theatre shows. These efforts addressed challenges such as skills gaps among people with disabilities, discrimination in educational settings, and the intersection of poverty and disability.
RSDO is thankful of Protect Defenders organization (FIDDH) for their unwavering support throughout the project. We also express gratitude to all participants, community leaders, and stakeholders whose dedication and collaboration made this initiative a success.
