Children are among the most vulnerable victims of conflict in Afghanistan. Conflict affects children in multiple ways. Boys and girls recruited by armed groups, separated from their families or forcibly displaced. Also they often cannot go to school during and in the immediate aftermath of conflicts. They are in harsh condition of labor force. Moreover, the violence experienced or witnessed during conflict has long-term repercussions on children. Even though children can find extraordinary ways to cope with traumatic experiences, the long-term psycho-social effects of conflict may undermine their future. Despite these devastating consequences, Razi Social Development Organization – RSDO  started its initial activities in child protection and education for the orphan who lost their parents during the war and then extended their activities in the other section that children directly or indirectly affect.

In 2002 RSDO commenced the first orphanage for the children with running primary and high school for the orphan children in Herat supporting almost thousands of orphans. We have implemented the following project for the children:

  • Nutrition
  • Education
  • Accommodation
  • Transportation
  • Vocational Training

From these small beginnings RSDO has been able to steadily expand its borders to other sectors. Following that we have advocated the children and as the result Japan Embassy construction a school building, digging room and hostel for the children. In long run our activities expanded and we extended our other indirect child protection in the sector of education, women empowerment, vocational training, agriculture and teacher training.
