In April 2025, the Razi Social Development Organization (RSDO), in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), successfully implemented food security interventions under the General Food Assistance (GFA) project across several districts of Herat Province.
Under this initiative, RSDO provided assistance through two modalities: Cash-Based Transfers (CBT) in Herat City and Zinda Jan District, and in-kind distributions in rural districts including Gulran, Kushk-e-Kuhna, and Kohsan.
Key achievements in April include:
Herat City: A total of 10,235 households received cash assistance of 2,900 AFN each.
Zinda Jan District: Planned for cash-based assistance, the distribution faced delays in April due to fingerprint verification challenges among female beneficiaries. This issue has been resolved, and the cash distribution officially began on May 18, currently ongoing at two distribution sites in Center and Shakiban.
Gulran District: 2,340 targeted households were provided with in-kind food assistance.
Kushk-e-Kuhna District: 2,299 households benefited from in-kind distribution.
Kohsan District: 1,899 households received in-kind food support.
RSDO remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities and ensuring timely and equitable distribution of aid in close coordination with its partners
